Author: Sheikh Touqeer Ansari

This phrase is not just words before the Azān — it is a declaration of absolute truth.

Allāhu Akbar means: Allah is Greater than everything you can imagine — and greater than what you cannot imagine.

Allah is Al-Awwal (The First) — nothing existed before Him.

Allah is Al-Ākhir (The Last) — nothing will exist after Him.

Allah is Al-Qayyūm — the One who sustains every atom without rest.

The oxygen we breathe is not self-created.

The balance of the universe is not accidental.

The heartbeat, gravity, time, light, life — none of them are independent.

Everything exists because Allah allows it to exist.

Everything survives because Allah maintains it.

If Allah withdraws His will for a moment, existence itself collapses.

When the Azān begins with Allāhu Akbar, it is reminding humanity:

🔹 Power is not in kings

🔹 Control is not in science

🔹 Eternity is not in matter

Only Allah has infinite, eternal, never-ending power — His attributes do not increase or decrease, because they are perfect.

Allah does not need the universe.

The universe needs Allah — every second.

This understanding is clearly explained through deep Qur’ānic reflection by Sh. Touqeer Ansari at QuranExplains.com, where the reality of Allāhu Akbar is shown not as a slogan, but as the foundation of existence itself.

Allāhu Akbar — before prayer, before breath, before time, and after everything ends.

This phrase is not a slogan.

It is the core reality of existence.

Allāhu Akbar means: Allah is greater than everything — greater than the universe, greater than time, greater than life itself.

Allah is infinite, eternal, and never-ending.

All His attributes are perfect and unlimited.

Nothing sustains Him — He sustains everything.

The oxygen we breathe is from Allah.

The survival of the universe is from Allah.

Every system, every balance, every movement exists because Allah takes care of it.

Every cell in the body depends on Him.

Every heartbeat continues by His permission.

Every atom remains in place because Allah holds it.

That is why Azān begins with Allāhu Akbar.

Muslims hear Allāhu Akbar six times daily in a deep conscious way:

   •   Four times in the Azān before the prayer begins

   •   One time to start the prayer

   •   Again and again with every movement in Ṣalāh

Standing — Allāhu Akbar

Bowing — Allāhu Akbar

Prostrating — Allāhu Akbar

Why?

Because nothing is greater than Allah at any moment.

Before prayer starts, we are reminded:

   •   Your problems are small — Allāhu Akbar

   •   Your fears are limited — Allāhu Akbar

   •   Your body, mind, life, and future are not independent — Allāhu Akbar

Allah is the source of all sources.

Everything depends on Allah — Allah depends on nothing.

If Muslims truly memorize and focus on Allāhu Akbar,

their consciousness changes,

their priorities change,

their hearts humble.

This deep understanding of Allāhu Akbar is beautifully explained through Qur’ānic reflection by Sh. Touqeer Ansari at QuranExplains.com, where Allah’s greatness is understood not emotionally only, but intellectually and spiritually.

Allāhu Akbar —

before breath,

before prayer,

before life,

and after everything ends.

“Allāhu Akbar in the Adhān: Realizing the Absolute Greatness Beyond All Comparison”

When a Muslim proclaims “Allāhu Akbar” in the Adhān, it means Allah is the Greatest—greater than every power, every force, and every idea we can imagine. It is a declaration that all His attributes are perfect and unlimited. Every second, He fulfills the needs of all creation: humans, animals, angels, and countless creatures on land, in the oceans, and throughout the universe. Nothing survives or exists except by His care.

When a person hears the Adhān or repeats Allāhu Akbar during prayer, each repetition should awaken a deep realization: how immense Allah’s greatness truly is. At the same moment, He sustains every heartbeat, every breath, every cell in every body, while also managing the affairs of the entire cosmos—without delay, effort, or assistance.

This understanding leads to humility and clarity. Allah’s greatness has no comparison—“Laysa kamithlihi shay’” (There is nothing like Him). No creation, no power, no advancement in science or technology can ever resemble Him. In fact, the more a person learns about science, order, and complexity, the more clearly they understand that Allah alone is the Absolute Authority and Sustainer.

This reflection on Allāhu Akbar is not just a phrase—it is a profound truth meant to reshape how we think, worship, and live.

The Adhān: “Allāhu Akbar” and the Shahādah

— Oxygen: the Most Living Proof of Tawḥīd

The most important truth that must be emphasized in this subject is this:

Allah alone is the Creator, Owner, and Provider of oxygen.

Every human being, every animal, every creature on land or in the oceans—without exception—lives every single second on oxygen. This is not occasional or symbolic; it is continuous and unavoidable. Oxygen is not self-generated, nature is not independent, and science does not control it.

Every breath enters a body only by the command of Allah.

In the Adhān, after declaring absolute greatness with “Allāhu Akbar,” the caller proclaims:

“Ashhadu an lā ilāha illa Allah.”

This testimony is not meant to be a habit of the tongue; it is meant to be a conscious witness of reality.

Its living meaning is:

I testify that there is no god but Allah—because every breath I take, every molecule of oxygen that keeps me alive, is from Him alone.

If Allah were to stop oxygen for even a single moment:

   •   no doctor

   •   no machine

   •   no wealth

   •   no power

could provide one single breath to anyone.

All technology can only use existing oxygen; it cannot create it.

This fact alone is one of the clearest, simplest, and strongest proofs of Allah’s existence, authority, and oneness.

Every breath we take is a renewed permission for life from Allah.

This is why Allah tells us that He is closer to the human being than the jugular vein—because breath, heartbeat, and life itself are under His direct command at every instant.

Yet despite this, humanity often breathes without reflection, lives without awareness, and repeats the Shahādah without truly witnessing what it means.

The Adhān comes repeatedly each day to break this negligence and remind us:

Your life is not in your hands.

Your survival is not guaranteed by wealth or status.

Your next breath belongs only to Allah.

Rich or poor, powerful or weak—

everyone is equal in one absolute dependence: oxygen, which is entirely in Allah’s control.

When a Muslim hears the Adhān many times a day, before every prayer they should renew this realization:

I believe in Allah because I am breathing—

and the One giving me this breath is Allah alone.

This is the true spirit of the Adhān.

This is the real depth of the Shahādah.

And this is the most direct, living way to understand Tawḥīd—with every breath.

The Adhān: “Allāhu Akbar” and “Ashhadu an lā ilāha illa Allah”

— Oxygen: the Greatest Testimony of Life

The most important and central truth of this article is this:

Allah alone is the Creator, Owner, and Provider of oxygen.

Whether human or animal, bird or fish—creatures on land or those living in the depths of the oceans—every living being survives every second by oxygen. Oxygen does not come by itself. Nature is not independent. Science is not its guarantor.

Every single breath comes only by the command of Allah.

When “Ashhadu an lā ilāha illa Allah” is proclaimed in the Adhān, it should truly be an announcement that says:

O Allah! I bear witness that there is no giver of life, no mover of breath, and no provider of oxygen except You.

Let a person reflect for a moment:

If Allah were to stop the supply of oxygen for even a single instant—

   •   no doctor

   •   no machine

   •   no wealth

   •   no power

could give even one breath.

All the technology in the world can only use existing oxygen; it cannot create it.

This is one of the greatest proofs of Allah’s existence, His Lordship, and His absolute authority.

Every breath we take is, in reality, a continuous permission from Allah to remain alive.

That is why it is said that Allah is closer to a human being than the jugular vein—because breath, heartbeat, and life itself are directly tied to His command.

Yet it is tragic that humans breathe but do not reflect, live but do not truly feel the testimony they proclaim.

The Adhān comes again and again each day to remind us:

Your life, your existence, and your every breath are in the hands of Allah.

Rich or poor, powerful or weak—

in the matter of oxygen, everyone is equally dependent.

When a Muslim hears the Adhān many times a day, each time they should renew this awareness:

I believe in Allah because I am breathing,

and this breath is given by Allah alone.

This is the true message of the Adhān.

This is the true soul of the Shahādah.

And this is the most powerful, simple, and living proof of Tawḥīd.

Oxygen: A Living Realization of How Completely Humanity Depends on Allah

It is a profound and undeniable realization of how deeply human life depends on oxygen. Whether a person goes into space, travels to the moon, dives under the sea, or lies in a hospital bed—human survival is impossible without oxygen, regardless of wealth, technology, or status.

In space, oxygen must be carried.

Underwater, oxygen must be supplied.

In hospitals, oxygen must be assisted.

And yet, on Earth, oxygen flows freely only because Allah allows it to flow.

No amount of money can replace oxygen when it is absent. No technology can create life without it. This dependence itself is a daily, living lesson. Every time a human being breathes, they have the opportunity to recognize the greatness of Allah.

Not statues.

Not AI-generated images.

Not stories, symbols, crosses, or false saviors.

None of these give a single breath.

The greatest lie mankind has accepted is denying the One who gives them oxygen every second. Allah is the God of all gods, the only true Sustainer. Every breath is His permission. Every heartbeat is His command.

If oxygen is cut off for moments, life collapses. How then can a person deny the Real God, when their entire existence is suspended on something they do not control?

Oxygen itself is a continuous testimony:

   •   That Allah exists

   •   That Allah sustains

   •   That Allah alone gives life

If human beings would simply acknowledge oxygen every second of their lives, denial of Allah would become impossible.

This is not philosophy.

This is not symbolism.

This is reality.

Wake up and realize:

The One who owns your next breath is Allah.

Oxygen: The Living Reality Every Human Depends On — A Proof of Allah’s Sustaining Power

Every human being, at every moment of life, depends on oxygen — not temporarily, not partially — but continuously. From the moment we are born until our last breath, oxygen is the invisible force that sustains every heartbeat, every thought, every motion, and every moment of life.

This fact is not philosophical — it is biological reality.

Human Life Cannot Survive Without Oxygen

Medical science clearly shows that the human brain and body cannot function without a constant supply of oxygen:

   •   Without oxygen reaching the brain, a person loses consciousness within about 15 seconds.

   •   Irreversible brain damage begins within approximately 4–6 minutes of complete oxygen deprivation.

   •   After this brief period, survival without severe damage becomes nearly impossible.

These timelines are not arbitrary — they reflect the biological requirement that the brain and other vital organs must receive oxygen every moment to stay alive.

Every Breath Is a Sign of Life

Think about it:

✔ Even while sleeping, your body continues to take in oxygen.

✔ During any surgery, medical oxygen is given to sustain life.

✔ Even for a fraction of a second without oxygen, normal brain function cannot continue.

No machine can create oxygen.

No technology can replace the body’s need for it.

Only nature provides oxygen in our atmosphere — but even that is only usable because our lungs, blood, heart, and cells all work in exact harmony to use it.

And this harmony is itself dependent on Allah’s command, every single moment.

No Statue, Symbol, or Fiction Can Give Oxygen

Think about the things people sometimes worship:

   •   Statues

   •   Religious symbols

   •   Legends or myths

   •   AI-generated images or ideas

   •   Objects of superstition

   •   Graves or relics

None of these — not one — can give even one breath of oxygen.

But every human being — believer or non-believer — takes millions of breaths during a lifetime. This constant, unavoidable fact shows that:

Life itself is not random; it is sustained by an ever-present, ever-active Provider.

This is not a matter of belief alone — this is observable reality.

The Scientific Reality Points to a Continuous Provider

If oxygen stopped for:

   •   1 second — consciousness is lost

   •   3 minutes — brain cells begin irreversible damage

   •   5 minutes — survival becomes highly unlikely

That means every second of life depends on oxygen — and therefore on whatever sustains its availability to us.

This is not a symbolic claim — this is empirical biology.

But Who Gives Us This Oxygen?

Air exists because of the Earth’s environment.

But you do not control your lungs, your heartbeat, your blood circulation, or your cells’ ability to use oxygen.

You are alive only because:

   •   Your lungs expand and contract

   •   Your heart pumps oxygenated blood

   •   Your cells use oxygen to make energy

Every one of these processes is happening without you consciously controlling it.

And the moment any of them stop — life stops.

Oxygen Is a Constant Reminder of Allah’s Role

This means that every breath you take is a direct dependency on Allah — the One who created life and sustains every aspect of our existence, from the biggest galaxy to the smallest breath:

🔹 You don’t create your body.

🔹 You don’t control your heartbeat.

🔹 You don’t manufacture oxygen.

🔹 You don’t keep yourself alive — every moment of life is because Allah wills it.

When we look at oxygen this way, we can see that every breath is a living testimony that:

Allah alone is the Sustainer, Provider, and Creator.

An Invitation to True Awareness

Many people worship objects, symbols, AI illusions, statues, or ideas that cannot sustain even a single living cell.

But every living human being — regardless of religion, nationality, culture, or belief — depends on oxygen every second.

And oxygen itself is proof of a continuous Provider — Allah.

This is not religious opinion — this is observable fact.

O mankind Here are deep, scientific facts you can use to open people’s eyes to how much humans really depend on oxygen — and why that dependence points directly to Allah as the Continuous Source of life:

1. The Brain Cannot Survive Long Without Oxygen

   •   The human brain begins to suffer permanent damage within minutes of oxygen deprivation — about 4–6 minutes at most, and death follows quickly afterward without oxygen.

   •   If the oxygen supply is interrupted, loss of consciousness can occur in as little as 15 seconds, and serious brain injury starts within minutes.

   •   This shows how critically dependent every human life is on continuous oxygen, every second.

👉 In practical terms: if in a hospital a machine stops providing oxygen, life can fail within minutes. In space without oxygen in a suit or habitat, a human cannot live even moments. Underwater without breathing gas, unconsciousness follows fast.

This is not belief — it is medical reality.

2. Every Cell in the Body Requires Oxygen

   •   Every single tissue and organ in the human body—including the brain, heart, muscles, and cells—requires oxygen constantly to function.

Without constant oxygen, cells cannot produce energy and begin to die quickly. This means oxygen is not just important — it is essential for life at the most fundamental level.

3. Oxygen Cannot Be Stored for Later Use

Unlike food or water, the body cannot save oxygen in reserve to “use later.” If oxygen supply stops, life processes fail almost immediately.

This is true:

   •   during sleep,

   •   during surgery,

   •   under anesthesia,

   •   in natural breathing every moment of life.

There is no backup system inside the human body that can replace oxygen once it’s gone.

4. Specialized Environments Demand Artificial Oxygen Supply

Humans can only breathe Earth’s atmosphere because it has roughly 21% oxygen necessary for life.

But in:

   •   Space (no breathable atmosphere),

   •   Underwater (no breathable air),

   •   High altitudes (thin air),

life is impossible without supplied oxygen — even if a person is otherwise healthy.

This shows:

Survival outside Earth’s natural air depends entirely on artificial oxygen provision — and even then, oxygen must be supplied continuously for life to continue.

5. Oxygen Is Not a Metaphor — It’s a Physical Reality

There are no statues, objects, crosses, imaginary symbols, AI pictures, or stories that can:

✨ give one single breath of oxygen

✨ sustain the brain for even a few minutes

✨ prevent death when oxygen stops

But oxygen — constantly, mercifully, moment by moment — is continuously provided to every living being. This is not myth — this is observable, measurable reality.

Conclusion: Every Breath Is a Reminder of Allah

From birth to death every human experiences this:

   •   You are breathing right now.

   •   Your brain cannot survive minutes without oxygen.

   •   Even while asleep, oxygen continues to sustain you.

   •   Every heartbeat and breath depends on it.

This reveals a powerful truth:

If your life, your consciousness, and your survival WAIT on oxygen — and oxygen never comes unless Allah wills it — then how can any human deny the true Creator?

There is no other source of continuous provision.

No idol.

No symbol.

No legend.

Only Allah — Sustainer of every breath.

This is not just belief — this is reality impressed upon every human body every moment.

Before attacking Islam, pause and realize one simple fact: every breath you take is borrowed. Every cell, every organ, every thought in your brain survives only because of oxygen—a supply no human created, no scientist owns, and no power can guarantee for the next second. Even the richest person, living in the “best atmosphere,” collapses the moment oxygen is withheld. This absolute dependence exposes a truth you can’t debate away: control is not in human hands.

Islam doesn’t fear science—it explains reality: survival itself is under Allah’s command. Searching for “defects” in Allah’s religion while you can’t secure your next breath is not intelligence; it’s denial. Dependence is proof, arrogance is blindness.
